Press Release

A group of college teachers, scientists, journalists, professionals, social workers for the assistance to separated parents and different groups of the men’s movements in Italy, demands to change the attitude towards the father in the current culture/behaviour of the society, also in the law regulations. Different initiatives will follow this plea in order to spread this information as well as to involve the political class on this matter. Starting from this first document, also, the subscribers indicate the necessity for a stronger help and recognition of the father which is willing to undertake all the obligations related to raising the conceived sun, which instead the mother intends to abort.
Appeal for the father
In the west world, the father figure has been separated from his educational and social role.
The results, simply according to any human science all easily predictable, are evident: lack of self-confidence and, more in general, difficulties in taking initiative for many young daughters and suns; incapacity to accept any principle of authority; solitude and weariness of single mothers having alone the burden of education; frustration of adult males, devaluated in this essential aspect of male identity. This is a situation that determines very strong damage to individuals, to relations among couples and in the family, in society, in our civilization. Careful actions are needed in order to bring back dignity and responsibility to the father figure.
The position of the father in regards of the generated son has a great affective and symbolic meaning.
Nowadays, the common use is to deprive the father from every responsibility related to the procreation process, which is a paradox, emotionally unjust, groundless both for biology and anthropology, devastating from a symbolic point of view.
For the good of our children and of our society, it is necessary the father is granted the responsibilities as co-author of the procreation process. The news that report desperation of fathers wanting to take care of the child the mother want to abort, represent only the extreme point of the mourning that the man-father lives sent off the procreation process he has initiated. To guarantee life, family and society, same dignity to men and women in the procreation process must be provided by a careful collective reflection. If we wish to defend life and our families, nucleus of our society, the needs and wills of women need to be safeguarded.
The undersigned citizens and groups therefore send this strong call to the political and society forces so that the current regulations are thought back, and the prejudices, that take away beyond any common sense the father to the life of the son, removed.
